Firefighters Contain Fire in Portland Warehouse Area

A Monday afternoon fire at Noyes Self Storage in a warehouse area of Portland near Chestnut Street at Kennebec Street is under investigation.

The Portland Fire Department says heavy smoke inside a large motor vehicle storage area made it difficult to locate the fire, which was inside a passenger van.

Firefighters say a sprinkler system held the fire in check until they arrived and extinguished it.

No one was injured in the fire, Crews say they cleared the scene by 4:15 pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
