HOLLIS, Maine (WGAN) Local firefighters had a hard time knocking down flames at a Hollis business on Thursday.

The fire chief in Hollis says a lack of water and manpower made it difficult to extinguish the flames at Pleasant Hill Excavators. Our news partners at CBS 13 report mutual aid was requested from 13 different fire departments, which helped shuttle water to the scene.

A garage at the business is considered a total loss.

Employee Walter LeLand says his thoughts are with the Hanson family, who have been plowing and sanding roads in Hollis since 1924.

No one was hurt in the fire, which remains under investigation. It’s believed the fire started near a wood stove.
