Former Bangor school official pleads guilty to child pornography charge

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) The former finance director of the Bangor school department has pleaded guilty to uploading child pornography.

The Bangor Daily News reports 63-year-old Alan Kochis of Brewer pleaded guilty to one count of possession of sexually explicit materials Wednesday at the Penobscot Judicial Center. He was indicted in November and was expected to plead not guilty.

He was accused of uploading pornographic images depicting young boys under the age of 12 from his home computer in February.

As part of a plea deal, he was sentenced to 3 years behind bars with all but 6 months suspended followed by 2 years probation. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for the 25 years following his prison sentence.
