Former Maine lobster pound owner struck and killed by van in Florida

A Boothbay Harbor man is dead after getting hit by a van in Florida over the weekend.

According to the Portland Press Herald, 65-year-old Edward Tibbets died in St. Augustine on Saturday morning.

Police said he was crossing a highway on foot with his wife when a 17-year-old driver struck the couple, who were staying at a nearby campground.

Edward’s wife, Kathy Tibbets, suffered minor injuries.

Edward Tibbets was the former owner of a lobster pound and seafood market in Maine.
