BOSTON (WGME) — Former Boston Red Sox player and broadcaster Jerry Remy died Saturday following a long battle with cancer, according to multiple sources.

CBS 13’s sister station, WBZ in Boston, learned that Remy died Saturday night.

Remy started his career playing three seasons with the California Angels. The second baseman played the final seven years of his career with the Red Sox.

Remy batted .286 in his seven years in Boston. He was inducted into the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2006.

Remy was 68 years old.
