Four Arrested for Busting Up Mailboxes in Yarmouth


YARMOUTH, Main (WGAN)  The Yarmouth Police Department says four people have been charged for destroying mailboxes in the town.

Police say they got a call Wednesday around 8 p.m. from a resident that reported a white pick-up truck full of juveniles was driving around Rogers Road and smashing mailboxes with a baseball bat.  Police say they found the truck on Merrell Road in Pownal and pulled it over.

As a result, police say one adult and three juveniles were all charged with various crimes.

Police say reported damage in Yarmouth is on Rogers and North Roads, Burnell and Mellissa Drives, East Main and Granite Streets and Gail Lane.

Police also say they believe those charged are responsible for damage done in Freeport and Brunswick.

Police are asking residents to check out their mailboxes and to call them if they are damaged.
