Gas prices inch down in Maine as another holiday weekend approaches

Gas prices in Maine dropped by about 6 cents since last week, but they’re likely to remain high going into the Fourth of July weekend.

Gas in Maine is still over the $5 mark, with the average price of a gallon of gas standing at $5.01 on Monday, according to AAA.

GasBuddy reports that the price of a gallon of gas in the state is still about 25 cents higher than it was a month ago, and about $1.94 higher than it was this time a year ago.

Nationally, the average price of a gallon of gas has fallen about 8 cents in the last week, averaging $4.88.
