Hands Free Cell Phone Law Goes Into Effect Tonight at Midnight

AUGUSTA, Maine (WGAN) A new law prohibiting motorists from using their hands to use cell phones while driving goes into effect at midnight. The law prohibits drivers from holding on to their phone while operating a vehicle, including while stopped at an intersection. The law allows you to operate a phone if it is in a holder or using bluetooth teachnology, as long as the operator is not actually holding on to the phone.
