Head-on crash leaves two injured in Kennebec County

Police in Kennebec County say a crash that left two people injured may have been the result of a driver falling asleep behind the wheel.

The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office says two people were injured in the head-on crash in Vassalboro around 7 a.m. on Route 201 on Thursday.

Police a 16-year-old crossed the center line and crashed into an oncoming vehicle being driven by a 47-year-old man from Vassalboro.

Police believe the teen driver may have fallen asleep.

The two were taken to Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. There’s been no word yet on their condition.

No charges were pending on Thursday.
