Bath Iron Works reported Monday that two more shipbuilders have tested positive for the coronavirus after another worker tested positive last week.

The two workers had been carpooling with the worker who previously tested positive, the shipyard said. They are receiving medical care and have been instructed to self-isolate, the shipyard said.

Machinists Union Local S6 was working to see who may have come into contact with the workers during a strike. Many of the workers have not been wearing masks on the picket lines.

The union wants to make sure anyone who had contact with the workers gets tested, said spokesman Tim Suitter.

Striking workers have been getting mixed messages about masks because police have told workers to remove face coverings, Suitter said. Masks are available in the union hall if workers need them, he said.
