Health officials report more than 200 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Maine

The Maine Center for Disease Control reported 43 additional coronavirus cases on Saturday.

The CDC website reported that there were 211 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Maine. It said results from 3,394 tests had comes back negative.

The site said Cumberland County, where community transmission has been confirmed, had the most cases in the state, 120.

Cumberland County has by far the most cases in the state, as the second most cases are in York County, where their are 38. Maine CDC director Nirav Shah said earlier in the week that community transmission had been confirmed in York County as well. Community transmission had not been confirmed in any other Maine County when Shah last addressed the media.

Reports that Maine had surpassed 200 confirmed cases of coronavirus came one day after Shah revealed that a Cumberland County man in his 80’s had died from COVID-19, the state’s first coronavirus death.

Shah said Saturday that 30 individuals were hospitalized with COVID-19, and 24 individuals had been released from isolation after recovering from the virus.
