A 57-year-old homeless man faces charges after police say he stabed a victim Thursday night.

Portland Police says they were called to 5 Portland Street (Elena’s Way) at 9:16 pm, where they found a 56-year-old man who’d been slashed on the base of his skull from behind.

Officers say their investigation led them to Jay Larose, who was arrested and charged with Elevated Aggravated Assault.

The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
