I-295 overpass struck by excavator in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK, Maine (WGAN) The Maine Department of Transportation said Tuesday part of a bridge in Brunswick was struck by an excavator that was being hauled by a truck.

The southbound side of I-295 at the Durham Road overpass was reduced to one lane Tuesday afternoon. Maine State Police said the equipment hit the bridge near mile 28 northbound.

The Maine DOT was at the scene to inspect the bridge.

Crews also arrived to remove the excavator, causing traffic delays through the afternoon.

There were no reported injuries.
