I-95 Fire in York Consumes Semi-Trailer

Firefighters are relieved a semi-trailer that went up in flames on I-95 in York contained frozen curly French fries and not a hazardous material.

Crews say about 6,000 gallons of water were used to extinguish the fire, and the trailer and cargo were a total loss.

Firefighters say It took them several hours to clean up the truck, which caused major traffic delays in the area.

No one was hurt

Interstate 95 southbound was down to one lane for several hours while the trailer was removed.

Eleven fire personnel from York responded, along with several Kittery firefighters.

The trailer fire took place at about 1:40 pm Monday.
