Investigators say icy roads contributed to fatal head-on crash in Penobscot County

CORINTH, Maine (WGAN) Police say one person died and another was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries following a head-on collision in Penobscot County.

The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office says the collision happened on Exeter Rd. or Rte. 43 in Corinth early Monday morning.

The crash involved a pickup truck and a passenger car. The car’s driver, a 59-year-old man, was declared dead.

The driver of the pickup, a 69-year-old man, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Investigators believe icy roads were a factor in the crash. They were working to reconstruct the crash on Monday afternoon.

Police said the names of those involved are being withheld until further notices can be made.
