PORTLAND, Maine (AP) A Maine judge is considering whether comments made in church could be admissible in the trial of a man accused of killing his wife.
Three years ago, 34-year-old Alicia Gaston died from a single shot from a shotgun in the stairwell of the family’s home on Jan. 14, 2016. The Portland Press Herald reports 36-year-old Noah Gaston has said he thought his wife was an intruder.
Police say there are multiple inconsistences in his story and have charged him with murder. He’s scheduled to stand trial in February.
During a Tuesday hearing, both sides argued whether the jury should hear statements Gaston made to fellow church members.
