PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) A jury has found John Williams guilty of murder in the killing of Somerset County Sheriff’s Corporal Eugene Cole.

The jury reached the verdict Tuesday afternoon after deliberating for three hours, according to our info partners at CBS 13 News.

Williams confessed to killing Cole in Norridgewock last April, but his defense claimed he was under the influence of drugs at the time and didn’t intend to cause Cole’s death. Prosecutors said Williams killed Cole knowingly and intentionally.
