Juvenile in Rockland accused of vandalizing local business, school

Police say a juvenile in Rockland was taken into custody for vandalizing a business and a local school.

According to CBS 13, police say they discovered the damage around 2 a.m. Thursday.

Later in the day, police identified the suspect and took them to Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

The suspect is charged with aggravated criminal mischief after reportedly causing more than $2,000 worth of damage.

Police in Rockland say they’ve had an ongoing issue with crimes being committed by young people ranging in age from 11 to 17.

Over the last six months, more than 40 charges have been filed in connection with various crimes, including theft, assault, and drug trafficking.
