LEWISTON, Maine (AP) A fire that swept through a Lewiston apartment building has left about 20 people, most of them children, without a home, officials said.

The Red Cross says it is helping the group after fire damaged an apartment building.

Firefighters arrived to see flames spreading through the three-story building Thursday night. No one was hurt.

The fire chief says it appears the fire started in a bedroom, but there was damage throughout the building. The exact cause of the fire was under investigation Friday morning.
