A former Maine prosecutor who pleaded guilty to her role in an illegal marijuana operation has had her license suspended for nine months.

Former Franklin County assistant district attorney Kayla Alves pleaded guilty in March to tampering with documents. She was sentenced in August to two years of probation and a $2,000 fine, according to CBS 13 news.

She’s one of 12 people initially charged in connection with a criminal conspiracy to grow and sell marijuana as part of a $13 million operation based out of Farmington.

The conspiracy, uncovered in 2020, involved local law enforcement and government officials.
