A 65-year-old Stonington man was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon, authorities say.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says a car driven by Michael Turner crashed into the back of an SUV as Turner was driving south on Burnt Cove Road in Stonington.

The vehicle his car collided with was being operated by 52-year-old Jennifer Moody of Castine.

The Bangor Daily News reports that Moody’s SUV was stopped along the side of the road while she was delivering mail.

According to the sheriff’s office, Turner failed to see the woman’s vehicle and crashed into it, causing his car to roll over and come to rest on its wheels.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, while Moody was treated at the scene for back pain.

The crash is still under investigation.
