Maine’s youth prison has hired a new superintendent.

The Portland Press Herald reports that Lynne Allen has been hired to lead Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

Allen previously worked for the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services.

Long Creek has faced scrutiny in recent years over its dangerous conditions and violent incidents. Last summer, more than $160,000 in damage was caused at the prison.
