A long standoff came to an end in Cumberland County Friday morning.

The standoff in Cornish began Thursday morning after a man allegedly broke his neighbor’s windows with a tractor and used a knife to flatten his tires.

Sheriff William King Jr. says deputies became involved in a standoff with Edward Kalinoski, 66, after responding to a home on Spur Rd. Thursday at about 6:45 a.m.

At about 6:30 a.m. on Friday, the sheriff said he had just gotten word that the standoff had come to an end and the suspect had been apprehended.

Efforts to communicate with the man included crisis negotiators, law enforcement and a behavioral health worker.

King said Thursday that the man would be charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, criminal threatening, criminal mischief and refusal to submit to arrest.
