Lowell crash leaves teenager dead, two others injured

A teenager was killed in a crash in Lowell early Friday.

Maine State Police say the crash happened on Main Road around 12:30 Friday morning. Police say the driver of a compact car failed to negotiate a curve in the road and crashed. The driver, a 17-year-old male from East Millinocket and his front-seat passenger, a 15-year-old female from Lincoln, were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The backseat passenger, a 17-year-old female from Lincoln, was pronounced dead at the scene.

All three occupants were not wearing seatbelts.

The crash is still under investigation.
