MACHIASPORT, Maine (WGAN) Maine State Police say a 15-year-old from Machiasport was killed when his motorized bicycle collided with a car.

Police say Garret Sprague was riding his motorized bicycle on Port Road in Machiasport on Wednesday around 7:15 p.m. A vehicle being driven by 20-year-old Caleb Norton, also of Machiasport, was heading in the opposite direction and collided with Sprague. Police say they don’t know why Sprague was travelling in the oncoming lane.

Sprague died as a result of injuries suffered in the crash.

Police are working to reconstruct the crash. They said poor visibility was a factor due to thick fog on the road at the time of the crash.
