Maine recorded a record number of Lyme Disease cases for the second year in a row in 2023.

The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention says Lyme cases jumped from about 2,600 in 2022 to 2,900 cases last year.

According to the Portland Press Herald, cases were most prevalent in the Midcoast and Down East regions.

Knox County had the highest concentration of Lyme with 660 cases per 100,000 residents.

Cumberland County, which is Maine’s most populous county, wasn’t as high on the list with 120 cases per 100,000 people.
