FREEPORT (BDN)— A veteran-owned Freeport brewery canceled an upcoming ”Women for Trump” event, claiming to have been misled by the campaign managers about the scope of the event.

The Stars and Stripes brewery’s owners Brad and Nancy went on record that they had initially been told that only some members of the “Women for Trump” bus tour would be stopping in for a quick beer and pizza. Monday night however, the two found out that Lara Trump was going to be there, reporters in tow.

The owners unaware of the intended formality of the event, called the campaign team and called it off Tuesday morning.

The owners made a point to state that the brewery does not host political events or endorse candidates of any kind. The brewery is just not politically involved, the owners say.

“I tried so hard to keep this brewery positive, and we haven’t had any backlash because we don’t do anything that’s negative… But when it comes to politics, people are so far on either side.”
