3 deaths, 259 new coronavirus cases reported in Maine

Public health officials in Maine reported three new deaths among Mainers with COVID-19 on Monday.

The Maine CDC says 547 people have died with COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

There were also 259 new cases of the virus reported Monday, marking a significant decrease in the 7-day daily average of new cases since mid-January. That number peaked at over 800 on January 14th, and as of Monday, was down to approximately 452.

The Maine CDC has recorded 37,046 cases since last March.

Of those cases, 30,108 are confirmed positives, while 6,938 are classified as probable cases.

Public health officials say 1,342 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point.

The vaccine rollout is still underway in Maine. As of Monday morning, 87,292 people had received their first dose of a vaccine, while 23,040 had been given their second dose.
