Another 16 people in our state have died with COVID-19, according to Friday’s report from the Maine CDC. It raises the statewide death toll to 477.
Public health officials announced 823 new cases of the virus.
The Maine CDC has recorded 32,781 cases of the virus since the pandemic began.
Of those cases, 26,923 are confirmed positives, while 5,858 are classified as probable cases.
The state’s seven-day average for new cases is 627.1, up from 539.9 one week ago and up from 403.7 a month ago.
Public health officials say 1,228 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point.
As Maine’s vaccination effort continues, public health officials were reporting Friday that more than 56,000 people have received their first vaccine dose. More than 10,000 Mainers have received two doses.

Gov. Janet Mills announced Wednesday that Maine is changing its distribution plan for COVID-19 vaccines. It affects Phase 1B, which could begin later this month, and now includes residents who are 70 and older. It will also include people with high-risk medical conditions.
