The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Tuesday that the state has topped 69,000 reported cases of the virus since the start of the pandemic. There have also been 858 deaths in Maine, the agency reported.
The agency also reported Tuesday that about 58 percent of the state’s total population has been fully vaccinated against coronavirus. That is one of the highest percentages in the country.
Tuesday was also scheduled to be the final day of Maine’s “state of civil emergency” order. Democratic Gov. Janet Mills issued the order in the early days of the pandemic and has said it will end on June 30.
