The Maine CDC reported another 40 cases of coronavirus on Wednesday.
The state, which is now providing updates on cases, deaths and hospitalizations Monday through Friday only, also reported five new deaths. That number is a result of a vital records review dating back to the beginning of the pandemic in March of 2020 to now, and those deaths were not previously confirmed with a positive test. All of the individuals were 80 or older.
According to the Portland Press Herald, Maine and South Dakota were the only two states to avoid an upward trend in cases over the last two weeks.
Also according to Wednesday’s update, 63.56% of the state’s population that is eligible for a vaccine are fully vaccinated.
