Maine reports 12 coronavirus cases, lowest daily total since Sept.

The Maine CDC on Thursday reported 12 additional cases of the coronavirus and no new deaths.

The 12 new cases mark the lowest daily increase in cases since Sept. 28, when 12 cases were also reported.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, public health officials have reported 68,889 cases and 856 deaths.

Of the total number of cases, 50,385 of them have been confirmed, while 18,504 are classified as probable.

The state’s seven-day average for new cases is 26.3, down from 42 a week ago and down from 166.4 one month ago.

The Maine CDC says 2,066 people have been hospitalized at some point with COVID-19.

On Thursday, the state’s hospitalization rate was 15.44 patients per 10,000 residents.
