A judge says the state of Maine will have to turn over all records related to a 3-year-old whose mother is charged in their death.

An autopsy found that 3-year-old Maddox Williams of Stockton Springs died of blunt force trauma at his home on June 20th. His mother, Jessica Trefethen, formerly known as Jessica Williams, is charged with his murder.

The Bangor Daily News writes that the Maine Department of Health and Human Services will have to turn over records pertaining to Maddox and his three siblings.

A member of Maddox’s extended family, Becky Stephens, said all four of Trefethen’s children have been in and out of DHHS custody over the last four years. She says Maddox had only been living with his mother since March.

A judge ruled that the records will need to be given to the court by August 20th.

The state DHHS has come under renewed scrutiny in recent months following news of Maddox’s death, which was the fourth death of a young child in Maine in one month.
