Maine gets more than $13 million from feds to reduce homelessness

BANGOR, Maine (AP) The federal government has awarded more than $13 million to Maine’s state government, the city of Bangor and several organizations in the state to help reduce homelessness.

The money has been awarded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Continuum of Care Program and it includes a grant of almost $10 million to the Maine Department of Health and Human Services.

Bangor is receiving a little more than $1 million and the Maine State Housing Authority is getting more than $750,000.

Preble Street, Through These Doors and Community Housing of Maine are also receiving grants.
