The Kittery Trading Post is threatening to leave the state in light of a 72-hour waiting period for gun purchases that was approved by Maine lawmakers.

The law is set to go into effect in less than 90 days without the governor’s signature.

According to the Bangor Daily News, the Kittery Trading Post says it will move its firearms business to New Hampshire if the waiting period law takes effect.

The business says it would lose an estimated $400,000 in sales tax revenue and lose 40,000 customers annually if the law takes effect.

The law is also facing a legal challenge from the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine.
