BANGOR DAILY NEWS – About a dozen people are being tested for coronavirus here in Maine.

The Bangor Daily News reports hospitals in Maine have been isolating patients who show flu-like symptoms associated with COVID-19. So far, no cases have been confirmed in the state, but Jeff Doran with Northern Light Health, says there “every reason to believe” the virus will find it’s way to Maine. Cases have already been reported in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Schools have been disinfecting buses after each use, and the Maine CDC has issued general guidance to help prevent the spread of the virus. Covering your cough, washing your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol, and staying home if you’re sick remain the best ways to avoid getting or spreading COVID-19.

Maine’s legislature approved spending $58,000 on a machine that can test patients for the virus. The Maine CDC expects to begin testing within the next several days.
