Students were challenged to create an original app.

The top 40 were invited to today’s event with the top 10 being awarded by Tyler Technologies and the University of Maine.

The top three however shared a $10,000 college scholarship.

The goal of the Maine app challenge is to create an interest in stem and point students towards potential college majors and career paths.

“We need these kids in the state of Maine. We need them to stay in Maine. We need them to know that there are tremendous, awesome career opportunities for them here in the state of Maine,” stated Chris Hepburn, the President of Enterprise Group.

Congratulations to this year’s first place winner Yuliya Buturlia of Scarborough High School.

Her app called “Schedule Storm” helps students schedule meetings with teachers and see their availability for additional help with school work.
