Highway officials have a message for pot smokers: if you plan on getting high to celebrate Thursday’s unofficial stoner holiday, you better not get behind the wheel.

The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety says if you plan on getting baked this 4/20, you should plan ahead and have a sober driver.

In a press release Thursday, the bureau said marijuana can slow reaction times and impair cognitive performance.

The message from Maine highway officials is part of the national “If you feel different, you drive different” campaign.

The release said that since 2020, cannabinoids have been the most frequently detected drug in samples from OUI/DUID investigations in Maine.
