Home sales were up in Maine in May compared to the same time last year.

That’s according to Maine Listings, which says sales of existing single-family homes rose by nearly 3.3 percent with 1,227 sales.

The statewide median sales price also rose by about 6.5 percent during the same period, reaching $425,000.

Waldo County saw the biggest jump in sales, rising by 39 percent, while the more populated Cumberland County saw an 8.2 percent increase in that time.

Jeff Harris with the Maine Association of Realtors says we’ll see a moderation of home pricing as inventory grows.
