Maine Laboratory Receives $12 Million NIH Research Grant

BAR HARBOR, Maine (AP)   MDI Biological Laboratory has received a $12 million National Institutes of Health research grant.

The Portland Press Herald reports the lab said in a statement the funds will support the Kathryn W. Davis Center for Regenerative Biology and Medicine. Kevin Strange founded the center in 2012.

Strange received $13 million for a “phase one” grant the year after he founded the center.

The lab focuses on developing therapies that regenerate lost or damaged tissues and organs. It also researches strategies for delaying degenerative diseases.
