Lifeguards in Maine will be getting paid more this summer.

Our info partners at CBS 13 News report the new starting wage for lifeguards will increase by 25 percent to $14.71 an hour. Lifeguard supervisors are also receiving a raise.

Officials with the Maine Park Service hope the change will help decrease the shortage of lifeguards in the state.
