A Winslow man has been charged with driving under the influence after police say he caused a crash that sent a North Dakota woman to the hospital in critical condition.

The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Maine State Police say 33-year-old Seth Tozier was heading south on I-95 at mile 143 in Pittsfield when he rear-ended a pickup in front of him. Police said the pickup was being driven by Billi Gunderson of North Dakota, whose vehicle left the roadway and ended up upside down in a ditch. She was ejected from the vehicle.

Lifelight was called but wasn’t able to fly due to weather. The Lifelight ground crew brought Gunderson to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.

Tozier, who wasn’t injured, was arrested and charged with OUI and taken to Somerset County Jail.

State police were still investigating and reconstructing the crash on Thursday.
