Maine man accused of sexually assaulting young girl appears in court

A Rumford man is accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 15.

Police say 34-year-old Nathan Thibodeau was arrested Tuesday and charged with gross sexual assault.

An investigation was launched after police received information from the Maine DHHS and a local school who reported a student had been sexually assaulted.

Thibodeau is being held at Oxford County Jail. He was expected to make his initial court appearance on Wednesday.
