A Lincoln man has been charged with violating bail twice in less than 24 hours after allegedly hitting a man with a rock.

Bangor Police say 23-year-old Riley Boyinton was arrested for assault Wednesday night near the intersection of Cedar and Main Streets. A woman told officers he had knocked her down after asking for a cigarette.

Boyinton was arrested for assault and violating his bail. He was then released from jail on personal recognizance bail early Thursday morning.

Just a few hours later around 4:30 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault on the Bangor Waterfront. A local transient told police he was sleeping when someone started beating him in the head with a large rock. Police said it appeared another individual had choked him unconscious.

A witness identified the suspect as Boyinton, who was taken into custody.

He’s now being held at Penobscot County Jail without bail.
