A Vassalboro man has been charged with manslaughter after attempts to start a campfire in China, Maine led to a woman’s death.

46-year-old Liza Bragg of Albion died of burn injuries in May of 2023 after standing next to someone who was trying to start a campfire. She was taken to Maine Medical Center where she died of her injuries.

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office says 31-year-old Travis Mitchell was arrested and indicted Thursday for his role in the fire. He’s expected to appear in court in April.

No other details about the incident have been released.
