Maine man dies in apparent drowning in Lincolnville pond

LINCOLNVILLE, Maine (WGAN) Police say a Hope man was found dead in a Lincolnville pond Friday morning.

The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office says 32-year-old Alan Bernardo was found in Norton Pond, dead from an apparent drowning. A passing motorist noticed a body in the water around 10:45 a.m. and reported it to police.

Investigators say they believe Bernardo was fishing from an elevated structure on the roadside when he fell. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine an official cause of death.
