A Poland man charged with murder in the death of his brother has been found not criminally responsible by reason of insanity.

The ruling came Tuesday after Justin Butterfield waived his right to a trial by pleading guilty.

According to CBS 13, Butterfield was accused of killing his brother, 38-year-old Gabriel Damour, on Thanksgiving 2022 in the home they shared.

Butterfield reportedly suffers from severe mental health issues.

Police say he mutilated his brother’s body and told them he had been fighting “the terminator.”

CBS 13 reports that Butterfield was expected to be turned over to the custody of Maine DHHS.
