Maine man hospitalized with serious injuries after firework explosion

A Lewiston man is in critical condition following a fireworks mishap on Monday.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says the accident happened around 4:30 p.m. at an apartment building on Horton Street.

They said a 39-year-old man was seriously injured when a consumer firework exploded inside his apartment.

The man was taken by helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The investigation is ongoing.
