A Waterville man is appealing a 42-year prison sentence for killing the mother of his two children.

According to CBS 13 news, Nicholas Lovejoy is in court to appeal several procedural aspects in the case. Lovejoy was found guilty of murdering his longtime girlfriend, Melissa Sousa, in 2019.

Lovejoy’s legal team argues the court unfairly denied his motion to suppress evidence concerning a traffic stop and search of his home.
