Maine man suffers serious head injury after single-vehicle crash in Harpswell

HARPSWELL, Maine (WGAN) A Harpswell man whose truck hit a tree Monday morning was taken to the hospital.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, 61-year-old Giard Fernand was behind the wheel of a truck when he went off the roadway and hit a large tree. It happened around 9:00 a.m. on Harpswell Islands Road, or Route 24.

Fernand suffered serious head trauma and was taken to Maine Medical Center.

Police said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time.
